Similar to Jazz... just improvise on the music (melodies, drums, etc), and bring in elements whenever (including segues such as drum, guitar, or trumpet/sax solos). So, Dubtribe could be an electronic+acoustic jam-session group. I believe I've heard of Dubtribe before; I shall check them out! Well, this is very much the elements to what is happening in Jazz-Hop. US3 was able to use whatever that want from the Blue Note Record archives and then they rap and play improv on top of these Blue Note grooves. I think this can be done on house-derived grooves too. For instance, I love playing my trumpet on top of "Atom Bomb" by DJ Pierre. Actually, Atom Bomb is really a neat foundation groove for all sorts of mixing. Regrads, Albert Boulanger aboulanger@bbn.com
